Christians have confirmation classes, those who are Jewish have bat and bar mitzvahs, and American society has the driver's license to confirm that one is an adult.

Today, my son is an adult.

He got his driver's license.

I was proud, stunned, scared, amazed, and over-joyed as he drove away from me in his mom's car.
