Gay Couples and Adoption in Israel! Breaking Through the Dam of Resistance

In Israel, the Attorney General ruled that same sex couples in a civil union can now both be the prospective guardians of a child. Before, like some states, only one of the members of a coupled relationship could adopt a child. Both parties, er, partners would be responsible for the well-being of the child. Like the United States, there were some who were resistant of such a change. And, like the United States, some people have a hard time seeing that not allowing gay couples the right to adopt a child is an act of prejudice by the state.

So Israel is moving toward recognizing adopted children as part of a gay and lesbian couple's life legally. Now we wait for the United States to make such a bold and necessary move.

Peace,

Brett
